For Christmas, my dad got myself and my sister iPads. When they first came out, I thought they were basically a bigger iPod Touch. Technically they are. But they have become very useful. I don't know what my sister is doing with hers, but I have been using mine a lot.
There is an application that is called "OneNote" that is a Microsoft product. They haven't made word available as an application yet, so I had to find another way to type documents on the go if I couldn't take my netbook. I just started using this application today, and I love it. It does have its loading problems sometimes though. Today, for instance, I started to type up "Dead Dreamer: Sophomore Year" today, and I walked away for a few minutes. When I came back I thought I had lost a few paragraphs so I started over. Turns out it just takes a little bit longer to load, and sometimes it doesn't load it all. I ended up going through the chapter to delete where I had retyped the paragraphs. It was a great purchase!
Another way my writing has improved? These little notebooks called Moleskine. My other mom gave me a few for Christmas and I love them. When I'm on the go and I suddenly get an idea for my books, I can just quickly write it down on the small notebook, then continue what I was doing. They are easy to carry, and easy to use. If you are a writer, these are a must have. Even if you just need a notebook to write lists, or any information you may need later, this is a great purchase.
I may be advertising a lot in this blog today, but I couldn't help it. These things were very useful to me when I started "Dead Dreamer: Sophomore Year." Even during break, I used these things to create lists of agents to help me organized who I've sent query letters too. The list I have is extremely long, and I haven't gotten very far down the list, but it is still a big thing in my plans. I hope to finish applying to all these agencies, and praying to God that at least one of them will take a chance on me. I really need this career to start for me. Please pray for me.
Last thing, if you're a writer, look into getting these things ;)
