Dad, Erin, and I drove up to the lake today and we're going home tomorrow, but Erin and I decided to do work while we were up here. She has to look for another job and do some research because her entire department was shut down so she got laid off. I'm praying that she will be able to get an even better job soon!
I spend the entire afternoon searching publishing companies, and thanks to Shayne Leighton, who btw just released a book you should check out. It's called Of Light and Darkness. Anyway, she posted a link this morning to another blog that led me elsewhere. This author posted that something about an online class. It's a class called Matchmaking Your Manuscript
This class is supposed to cover:
- researching publishers and editors
- understanding the children’s book marketplace
- identifying market trends
- exploring other routes to publication (agents, contests, magazines)
- personalized feedback on your editor “hit list”
It's an expensive class and will start on the 13th and end February 2nd. I'm excited yet worried that I'm going to be really stressed out taking this class along with all my other classes....not to mention keeping up with Eye on LC.
Also I was looking for more publishing companies that may take my work. I found four more companies and now I've got even more self-publishing companies calling just because I wanted information. Hopefully after this class I'll know even more about which companies are trustworthy and which will be best for me. Wish me luck! And Erin luck too!
